Winter Poem

The sea alone knows of gray and green
simmers, boiles foaming cold - abandond is
the shore, unshaven the dunes, lonesome
as the dog who shakes the water off his
fur - like a traveler under the bridge of
wide, neverending blue - and the wind bites
off the ears of whoever still wants to
believe in summer's sweet promisses -
